Who we are

ExamSetu is an online practice and certification platform for Microsoft Office and typing skills. This policy explains what we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and what control you have over it. It covers examsetu.tech and every page on it.

Information you give us

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, mobile number and a user ID you choose. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication; if you use “Continue with Google”, Google tells us your name, email address and profile picture.

We never see or store your password. If you sign in with an email address and password, that password is held by Firebase, not by us.

Your exam work

When you sit a test we store the documents you upload, the answers you select, and the results our automated graders produce — including your score, the per-task breakdown, and how long the attempt took. This is the record of your work and it is what your history, your leaderboard position and any certificate are based on.

Uploaded documents are held in private storage. They are not publicly readable, and they are not shared with other students.

Your name is locked after your first result

Once you complete your first graded attempt, the name on your profile is frozen and can no longer be edited by you. This exists to stop a shared account being renamed so that one person can collect a certificate for work someone else did. If your name is genuinely wrong — a spelling mistake, say — contact us and we can correct it.

Certificates are publicly verifiable

This one is worth reading carefully. If you earn a certificate, it is given a certificate number, and anyone who has that number can look it up on our public verification page. That page shows the name on the certificate, the course, and the date it was issued. This is the point of a certificate — it lets an employer confirm the document you gave them is genuine — but it does mean your name is visible to anyone holding your certificate number. Nothing else about your account, and none of your other results, is shown there. Certificate numbers cannot be guessed or counted through.

Payments

Paid courses and passes are processed by Razorpay. Your card, UPI or bank details are entered on Razorpay's own secure checkout and are never sent to or stored by us. We keep only the record of the order: what was bought, the amount, the date, and Razorpay's payment reference — which is what we need to give you access, answer a billing question, and keep proper accounts.

Institutes

If you join through a coaching centre or college using their join code, the manager of that institute can see your name, contact details, attempts and results for the courses their licence covers. They cannot see anything outside it. If you would rather they did not, do not use the join code — enrol on the course directly instead.

Cookies and advertising

We use cookies for three things:

• Keeping you signed in. Strictly necessary — the site cannot work without them.
• Limiting free demo tests. A cookie identifies your device so the free practice tests can be rationed fairly.
• Measuring our advertising. We use Google Ads and Google Analytics to understand which adverts bring people to the site and which pages they find useful. These set cookies that may be used to show you our adverts elsewhere on the web.

You can turn off personalised Google advertising at google.com/settings/ads, and block cookies generally in your browser settings. Doing so will not stop you using the site, though blocking all cookies will stop you signing in.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We use a small number of service providers to run the platform, each handling only what it needs:

• Google Firebase — sign-in and account security
• Supabase — the database and file storage holding your profile, results and submissions
• Razorpay — payment processing
• Google Ads and Google Analytics — advertising measurement

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and results for as long as your account exists, because your history and any certificate depend on them. Issued certificates and their records are kept permanently — a certificate that stopped verifying would be worthless to the person holding it. Order records are kept as long as accounting and tax rules require.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything that is wrong, or ask us to delete your account. Write to us at the address below and we will respond. Note that deleting your account also removes your results, and that we cannot delete an issued certificate record without invalidating a document that may already be in an employer's hands — tell us if that applies to you and we will explain your options.

Children

ExamSetu is intended for people preparing for government and professional computer-skills examinations. If you are under 18, please use it with a parent or guardian's involvement.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and the date at the top of it. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
