Frequently Asked Questions
Everything about the free tests, grading, and CPCT preparation
What is ExamSetu?
ExamSetu is a free online platform for practicing computer proficiency exams under real conditions. A paper can combine theory MCQs answered on screen, English and Gujarati typing scored on accuracy, and practical Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint tasks — where you download a template file, format it according to written instructions while a timer runs, and upload it back. Every section is graded automatically and scored within seconds.
Can I try a test without creating an account?
Yes. Three beginner tests — one each for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint — are available as free demos with no sign-up. Each demo test allows one submission every 2 hours. Creating a free account unlocks all tests with no wait between runs.
How does the automated grading work?
When you upload your finished file, the system compares your document against the expected result rule by rule — fonts, alignment, spacing, formulas, slide layouts and more — and calculates a score with per-rule feedback within seconds.
Do I need Microsoft Office installed?
Yes. You format the downloaded template in your own copy of Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint — any version that saves .docx, .xlsx, or .pptx files (Office 2010 or newer), or compatible editors like LibreOffice and Google Workspace (export to the Office format).
Is ExamSetu really free?
Yes. All practice tests are free. An account is only needed to unlock the intermediate and advanced tests, retake them without waiting, and keep a history of your scores.
What is the CPCT exam?
CPCT (Computer Proficiency Certification Test) is a certification exam used for government and office job recruitment in India. It tests typing speed in English and Hindi plus computer proficiency — including practical MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint skills performed under time pressure.
How does this site help with CPCT preparation?
Our practice tests recreate the computer proficiency section of CPCT: you download a real Office file, complete written formatting tasks while an exam timer runs with navigation locked, and get an instant automated score with rule-by-rule feedback — the same workflow and pressure as the real exam.
Does this cover the CPCT typing test too?
This platform focuses on the computer proficiency (MS Office) section of CPCT. For the typing section, practice English and Hindi typing separately — then use our timed formatting tests to master the practical section.
Which exams does this help prepare for?
The tests simulate the formatting sections of computer-skills exams such as CPCT and similar government and office-job typing/computer proficiency tests that require MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint formatting under time pressure.
